Odessa Media Saturation Campaign

Great Commission Media Ministries Mega City campaign in Odessa is under way reaching a potential audience of 2.3 million people in Odessa Province. Meanwhile heavy weaponry has for the first time been seen on the streets of Odessa in preparation for any attack on the city.

In Europe and elsewhere people have become increasingly uneasy, uncertain how things will ultimately unfold in the Ukrainian crisis.

Ukraine is facing extremely difficult times. But we continue to minister on social media, showing our TV programs in prisons, schools, libraries, and community centers. We preach the Gospel at public gatherings. In times like these, we continue to reach out to those in need.

GCMM has conducted two unprecedented megacity media campaigns in Ukraine, one in Sevastopol in 2009 and the other in Kiev in 2007. Working with over 200 churches in Kiev, we reached the whole nation of 45 million people with dynamic transformation stories on prime time television night after night for 30 days. Thousands of people accepted the Lord through this outreach.

Sevastopol

Sevastopol is currently in the news big time. It is a Black Sea port and home to the Black Sea fleet of the Russian navy. Apparently Prince Vladimir was baptized into Christianity on the Crimean Peninsula in 988. From there Orthodox Christianity spread to other parts of ancient Russia.

One of our campaign leaders, Pastor Ivan recalls how many people in Crimea called the ministry call center. They were in extreme need. Many would raise their voice on the phone and cry out for help. Today, the situation is even worse. People are distressed over the future and what their own families may be facing. Local churches, however, continue to minister regardless of the circumstances. The Crimean outreach in 2009 produced changed lives and thousands of contacts for churches on the Peninsula, preparing, it would seem, for such a time as this.

Odessa Media Saturation Campaign

Odessa project 2014Events in Ukraine have increased the need to conduct mass media campaigns in the country. We have received repeated requests from Odessa for such a campaign. Odessa, a port city on the Black Sea, along with its surrounding region has a population of 2.3 million.

Tragically, Odessa lies inside the danger zone of Russian armed forces massed along the Ukrainian border.

This window of opportunity for such a campaign could well be our only chance to aid the churches of Odessa. Only God knows what the future holds.

Since similar campaigns were conducted in Kiev in 2007 and in Sevastopol in 2009, the centerpiece of these campaigns—the book that contains the transformation stories and the first steps of a new life in Christ—could be printed quickly.

I want to express our warmest thank-you for your continued support in taking the greatest message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to millions in our generation each week.
