God is at work in Israel
Israel is once again living through difficult days, and many Israelis are currently spending a lot of their time in bomb shelters. Fear and insecurity have once again become a daily occurrence with air raid sirens sounding day and night throughout Israel.
Yet even in the midst of this, the Gospel and practical care are reaching people, most recently among low-income families in Kiryat Gat. In February, we organized an evangelistic bus trip where 50 Jewish participants heard the message of the Bible, and nearly all asked to take a Bible home with them. Dozens of similar trips have been organized in recent years to various parts of Israel and to biblical sites that Jewish people do not usually visit.
In addition, our TV ministry is expanding: the “Getting to Know Israel” programs have begun airing on the new Christian GNCTV channel via satellite. The programs take viewers to significant historical sites while sharing God’s message of salvation along the way. The satellite broadcasts reach across the Asian regions of the former Soviet Union, while the Hotbird 13 satellite covers all of Europe. The programs are also widely distributed through Russian-language social media platforms.
We recently received a special answer to prayer from Israel. After a retreat held in Finland last summer for holocaust survivors, one participant asked for a Bible study group to be started in their assisted living facility. Today, around 100 residents join the weekly study to hear the Gospel. Our work in the Lord is never in vain. When even just one person is touched by the living God, it can become the beginning of transformation in many other lives.
