Ethiopia Prepares for Far-Reaching African Mega City Media Campaign

Ethiopia’s Mega City Media Campaign has taken a significant step forward. In early 2026, GCMM’s team traveled to Addis Ababa to meet with leaders of the country’s largest church denominations and, together, lay the groundwork for a Mega City Media Campaign that could become the largest effort of its kind on the African continent.

The meetings were encouraging and unified: churches in Ethiopia want to reach their nation with the gospel in a way that can be seen and heard. Their vision is exceptionally bold—by 2029, they hope to see four million new believers connected to churches across the country.

Ethiopia is Africa’s second most populous nation after Nigeria, home to 139 million people. Islam is spreading rapidly across Africa, and its influence is growing especially in areas where Christian heritage has weakened. Ethiopia has become one of the key front lines in Africa’s spiritual struggle. Christianity runs deep in its history, and churches have chosen to stand firmly for the gospel. Now is Ethiopia’s time.

Campaign to Launch in October

If preparations stay on track, the Mega City Media Campaign is set to begin on October 1st of this year. We are working closely with local church leaders so the Mega City Media Campaign can be carried out wisely and as effectively as possible. The gospel message of hope and reconciliation is especially important. This Mega City Media Campaign could open the door to a spiritual awakening that impacts millions.

A Vision to Reach the Nation

The vision of Ethiopia’s church leaders is vast—and deeply moving. They long to see their nation transformed by the power of the gospel. Decades of experience with Mega City Media Campaigns have taught us one thing: work like this succeeds only under God’s guidance and with the resources He provides. Ethiopia is no exception.

When Jesus looked at the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Their spiritual need moved His heart. He urged us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers into His harvest field.

Love for the lost and faithful intercession remain the foundation of our work, because we know we cannot do this alone. Our supporters and prayer partners play a decisive role. We need prayer, wisdom, resources, and God’s protection at every step.

Together with those who stand with us, we have the opportunity to reach thousands upon thousands of people who otherwise might never hear about Jesus.
