Historic Campaign Talks Underway in Ethiopia

There is a massive spiritual battle going on in the world. Africa has risen as one of the key arenas. Islam is spreading from country to country with the goal of the Islamization of the entire African continent. On the map, Ethiopia stands at the center of this development—alone, but not hopeless.

Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa, with 135 million people. It is also a country where the beginning of a spiritual awakening can be seen. We believe that now is the time for harvest.

The world’s largest Lutheran church asks for help
The Mekane Yesus Church, the largest Evangelical Lutheran church of our time, already unites 15 million members in Ethiopia. The church has a special vision: to reach the youth of its country with the Gospel—before alternative ideologies do.

This is a historic call for GCMM that opens the possibility for a large-scale media campaign in 2026. The church leadership has recognized the growing challenge of Islam, whereby cooperation is already underway, and preparatory negotiations are currently taking place.

The most challenging city campaign ever
The upcoming campaign in Ethiopia will be the most challenging in GCMM’s 20-year history of Mega City Media Campaigns. About 3,000 churches from across the country have signed up. The goal is to reach four million people with the message of the Gospel.

The national campaign Director in Addis Ababa is Dr. Lemma Degefa, who teaches leadership in the Mekane Yesus Church. Lemma is a man with a great heart for the Great Commission. He also serves as a leadership trainer for the Central Intelligence Agency of Ethiopia.

This effort not only benefits Ethiopia, but the entire Christian heritage of Africa
