When Other Connections Go Silent, the Gospel Still Reaches Iran

What happens when a nation is cut off, but God’s Word still finds a way in?

Across Iran, fear, grief, and uncertainty are pressing heavily on ordinary people. Internet access has been restricted. Telephone lines have been shut down. Many are isolated, anxious, and searching for something solid to hold onto.

Yet the Gospel is still getting through.

The Middle East is living through an unusually dangerous and unpredictable time. Iran has fallen into deep instability, and the military strikes and counterstrikes of recent days raise a serious question: could this crisis spread across the entire region? Darkness has settled over the Middle East.

But in the middle of this darkness, something significant is happening: the underground church is growing under persecution. The words of John’s Gospel are proving true: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Iran is one of the countries where the Christian church is currently growing the fastest. Exact numbers are unknown, but the signs are clear: people are searching for truth and finding Jesus.

In Iran, Christians cannot gather freely. The Gospel cannot be openly proclaimed. Those who have converted from Islam live out their faith in secret, hidden from the authorities and often even from their own families. For many of them, GCMM’s satellite programs are quite literally a lifeline — their only connection to biblical teaching, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

Dear friend, much prayer is needed.

It is important to pray for Iran’s underground church. Let us pray for protection, courage, and faith in the midst of uncertainty. We also pray for those who are seeking truth right now in this critical moment.

And let us remember Iran’s future in prayer as well. Iran’s future remains uncertain: who will come to power, and what direction the country will take. We pray for the day when the Gospel can be proclaimed freely and the church that now lives “underground” can step into the open to gather and minister freely in the name of Jesus.
