A Vision to Reach the Unreached Peoples of Nepal
96% (26 million people) in Nepal do not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. How can we reach these unsaved multitudes for Christ?

The Hindu dead are cremated on the shores of the Bagmati River that flows through the Kathmandu Valley. The ashes are then spread over the river, considered holy by Hindus and Buddhists.
Many Christian missionary organizations have worked diligently and tried many ways to reach the lost around the world. But there are still nations, from the flat lands of the south to the mountain villages in the north that have not heard or even heard of the Gospel.

To reach these people using traditional methods will take a very long time. It would be extremely difficult to reach every person in the rugged and remote areas of Nepal. Since 2008 IRR/TV has supported a radio ministry, working together with the Assemblies of God of Nepal. This ministry has been fruitful and we want to thank God, for the many prayer partners and those that have financially supported this precious outreach these past few years.

One of the missionary radio workers gives the following report from the Maithili people in Janakpuri: "I praise God for what he is doing through our work here. He is blessing us through the radio ministry. There are many Hindu extremist groups and other sects in Janakpuri that zealously oppose Christians. However, God has defused their attempts to discourage believers through their threats and violence. In fact, we are receiving testimonies and very encouraging responses from people. I would like to share some of them with you, to bless you as well.

We are happy that this program is a great blessing to many, exposing falsehoods and promoting the truth. After a half-year of broadcasting, we became the most popular program on that radio station. We received many positive responses from Nepal, as well as phone calls and mail from India. Many from our audience request more information about issues discussed on our programs. Others wanted more information about Jesus and still others have committed their life to God and want to join Christian congregations.”

Evangelistic TV Programs for Nepal

An opportunity has emerged for IRR/TV to reach the people of Nepal with the Gospel through television broadcasts. At the end of October, IRR/TV team members will travel to meet with our ministry friends in Nepal to discuss expanding media ministry there. Our aim is to produce a weekly evangelistic TV program for broadcast by satellite. Our challenge is to reach the 40 million people who speak the Maihtili language. These people live in western Nepal and the State of Bihar in eastern India.

This people group is the least evangelized in the world. Christians have named that part of the world as a “missionary graveyard” because of the many Christian missionaries who have been martyred there. We need your prayer support to develop this strategic ministry of fulfilling the Great Commission in Nepal!

Nepalese Christians Suffer Persecution

Mission work in Nepal is not without its problems. A journalist who recently returned home from a trip to Nepal reported the following story: “Christians living in the Kathmandu Valley have been able to breathe a little easier since the bombing of the Catholic Church in June 2009. Still, the largest Christian churches in the valley, such as Patan, have received numerous death threats by letter and phone calls from Hindu extremists, who were behind the earlier attacks.

They have issued a warning for all Christians to leave the country or to pay a hefty ransom for their protection. None of the congregations have given into the threats. But now, mandatory security checks are made on all people entering their services. This has been quite a challenge for the church in Patan, as they have two services on Saturday, each attended by hundreds of people. Nepal has an estimated 1 million Christians. Only a handful of Christians existed there in 1950. The new congregations need our support to better serve the social and emotional needs of new Christians. Let’s stand together to support and pray for them.”

Changed Lives

I Found Living Faith

I am 14. I became a believer over one year ago and watch your programs regularly. My parents are not believers yet, but are close to doing so. When you program came on air today dad was in the living room. The program was about AIDS, of a man who was sick, who understood he was living in sin. Dad pretended to be asleep. But I know your words sank into his heart. I wish you blessings.
