India is the second largest nation in the world with a total population of over one billion. GCM Ministries has initiated TV production to reach 400 million children in India. Chennai: May, 2011A mega city evangelistic campaign was conducted in the fourth largest city in India, Chennai (formerly Madras) in the spring of 2011. During the campaign over 94,000 phone calls came into the call center where pastors and counsellors answered the phones. Hyderabad: May, 2012A mega city campaign held May, 2012 in Hyderbad exceeded all expectations. Response to the call center surpassed 110,000 calls, mainly from Hindus and Muslims. The churches of the city had not seen anything like this. 60 phone lines were active at the call center. Additionally, we had over 650,000 hits on the website and thousands of cell numbers from young people downloaded the message and visited the Facebook pages. Also thousands of books were downloaded from the website. More campaigns in India; Mumbai in 2013More campaigns are planned for major cities in India in the near future. God willing a campaign in Mumbai will start in the fall of 2013. Mumbai is recognized for its entertainment industry and also referred to as "Bollywood". Apparently 9 million people commute to work in Mumbai by train on a daily basis. These jam-packed trains and train stations are ideal locations for our campaign ads with the message: "God gives you the power to change!" Millions of residents of the slums do not know anything about God and his love for them. Hannu Haukka says the visual impact of life in the slums is heartbreaking. One of the tragedies that stand out are the piles of garbage that the children play in and around each day. Even though poverty is rampant in the slums many homes have cablevision or a satellite dish. This oddity will serve the evangelistic media campaign well in that city to help reach the people of the slums with the message of change through Jesus Christ. "I pray we can continue to evanglize the people who do not know Jesus Christ yet," says Hannu Haukka. |
